Design

CONCEPT & IDEAS
Originality and relevance to the problem
Lateral thinking abilities (sometimes known as "thinking outside the box")
Understanding of the problem and its parameters, goals & objectives

REFINEMENT OF THE CONCEPT
Ability to take the original idea(s) and develop/ improve and apply them
Vertical thinking abilities
Critical evaluation of ideas & solutions
Clear documentation and design planning, references to all sources, information architecture (when appropriate)

CONTENT
Subject matter clarity and relevance to the assignment
Use of visual elements, eg. line, shape, colour, texture and text
Use of design principles and composition strategy, eg. balance, proportion, visual hierarchy, choice of formal visual elements

BEHAVIOUR
Feedback - The interface communicates 'state' to a user in the form of visuals, sound etc.
Usability - The interface allows a user to engage with the designers intended user experience
Effective use of affordances - links, icons, buttons

CONTEXT

Does the content and behaviour deliver the experience users are expecting
