AWESOME JOB ON MOTION!

Your Sites

Alexandra Gasser .....MAR 22: Your site is shaping up nicely. I'd like to see the content area become more prominent. Check Behaviours - It links to your Interface Design grid.
MAR 15: Looking forward to your latest work.
MAR 03: Updated site posted - Thanks!

FEB 25: I love Think Green - How come I can't link to it anymore?

FEB 24: Site is updated and posted

FEB 11: I like what I saw today. Looking forward to the next version of your site.

Adrianne Chong .... MAR 22: This design is evolving well. Check your links, especially under Computation - Computation 2 goes to Portrait Grid. I love the option to view larger versions of some of the items. Keep up the great work!
MAR 15: I like the direction in which you are going.
MAR 03: Updated site posted - Thanks!

FEB 25: I look forward to seeing your updated navigation.

LAST UPDATED FEB 11: It's up and working. Think about incorporating your navigation into every level of your site so that people won't have to depend on the browser's Back button to get around. Still need Computation 2.

Evan Smithers .....MAR 22: Motion turned out really well! Adding the sound was well worth it.

MAR 15: Looking forward to your latest work.
MAR 03: Updated site posted - Thanks!

FEB 25: Even better nav!

FEB 24: Site is updated and posted

FEB 9: Much better navigation!

Ayaka Sano .....MAR 22: Motion showed a lot of conceptual ability and was well designed and executed. Very thoughtful.

MAR 15: Outstanding work on the Behaviour assignment.

MAR 03: Updated site posted - Thanks!

FEB 25: Good job. We'll do the CSS next week.

FEB 24: Site is updated and posted

FEB 11: I love the sketch called House. Still need Computation 2.

Lauren Lindberg ....MAR 22: I know I keep repeating this, but the evolution of your site design is fascinating to watch. I'm really looking forward to seeing your final project.

MAR 15: Looking forward to the resolution of your interface design.

MAR 03: Updated site posted - Thanks!

FEB 25: Looking forward to your updated design (I peeked over your shoulder)

FEB 24: Site is updated and posted

FEB 11: Your navigation is working well but it's pretty far down on the page. Think about the broswer size and screen resolution. Still need Computation 2.

Nicole Orlowski .... MAR 22: I love your Motion assignment. Add that final touch we talked about and it will be perfect. Thanks for updating Computation 1 credits. Do you have references for Compuation 2? Also - All of your page titles say Grid 2.

MAR 10: Interesting new design - Computation applets aren't displaying

MAR 03: Updated site posted - Thanks!

FEB 25: We missed you today. Looking forward to guessing your theme.

FEB 24: Site is updated and posted

FEB 11: Looks good - I like your 5 sketches. Still need Computation 2.

Darah Joseph .... MAR 22: We missed you March 18. Looking forward to seeing your Motion assignment. I don't see the Interface Design assignments on your current site. Please get them in, as they are worth 15% of the grade!

MAR 15: Wonderful work!

MAR 03: Great - Thanks!

FEB 25: I copied joseph-darah_index.html and renamed it index.html so your site would open from the link on this page. The home page always needs to be named index.html. Let's work on a design the incorporates the navigation, rather then opening each assignment in a new window.

FEB 11: Still need Computation 1 and Computation 2. I don't see any updates since the last time I looked at your site.

Christine Kerver ... MAR 22: Your work is always good - extremely well executed. I'd like to see you take a few more risks with concepts and ideas. Take advantage of this Design program to experiment!

MAR 15: Got it - Thanks!

FEB 25: It's all working!

FEB 11: Great! I like your thinking. I have to admit, it took me a while to realize that the grid was the castle. I wonder if you could make that clearer?

Judy Kim ....MAR 22: You have great ideas and I really want to see them become realized. This is actually a very good medium for you if you can get past the technical issues. PLEASE put your latest work in my Drop Box. Email me if you need help.

MAR 15: Where is Behaviour?

MAR 03: You still have some broken links in your site

FEB 26: Thanks Judy! Run through it online to be sure everything works.

FEB 25: I'll look at your files and we'll get everything working. Remember: cconsistent labeling in the left nav!

LAST UPDATED FEB 11: Everything works! Still need Computation 1 and Computation 2.

Sheena Bhattacharya .... MAR 22: I believe you are currently following up on your options.

MAR 03: Please update your project site

FEB 25: Check your email. Remember to put your site into my Drop Box when you have it all working.

FEB 11: Give me the one we worked so hard on today! This has the old file names and paths.

Nicole Nyholt .... MAR 22: Motion is just great! I look forward to seeing how you follow up on your project site design. Your conceptual thinking and your design ability is very, very strong!

MAR 15: Parts of the Behaviour assignment are "behaving" strangely - Take a look.

MAR 03: Updated site posted - Thanks!

FEB 25: Computation 2 is awesome!

FEB 24: Site is updated and posted

FEB 11: Looks good - I like your 5 sketches. Still need Computation 2. Check your page titles.

Xue Feng.... MAR 22: Motion is stunning! So clever and so fun - I never get tired of playing with it!

MAR 15: I LOVE the animation!

FEB 25: I LOVE your navigation icons. Would you consider giving them rollover states? Computation 2 is great, too.

FEB 24: Site is updated and posted

FEB 11: Looks good - I like your 5 sketches. Still need Computation 2.

Rashik Patel .....MAR 22: Re: Motion - Follow up on the suggestions we gave you and this will be much better. Attention to detail is key for you - every little thing matters in interactivity.

MAR 15: I look forward to the next version of your site.

FEB 25: Superman Lives! I'd like to see more customization in your site design and navigation.

FEB 11: I love the little story! I must admit I find your navigation confusing. The names and order of the assignments has changed since you first did this. Still need Computation 2.

Mandip Randhawa ....MAR 22: We missed you last week! Are you coming back? Please contact me if you need help.

MAR 15: Great to have you back - Looking forward to seeing your new site.

FEB 27: Thanks Mandip!

FEB 25: Check your email. We'll figure out a way to get your site up ASAP.

UPDATED FEB 11: There's a lot to like here. Think about the broswer size and screen resolution - everything is way too big. Design a global navigation system so I don't have to use my Back button to go from page to page. Make sure your navigation is easy to find, too. I like both graphics - the squiggly interactivity one in the upper left corner and the black and white one in the lower right.

Jennifer Chhouk ....MAR 22: Great job on the Motion project! I'd still like to see navigation on your site that doesn't force me "up" to the Home page to navigate from one section to another.

MAR 15: Can you code your navigation so that each sub-nav or content area doesn't spawn another tab or window?

MAR 03: Updated site posted - Thanks!

FEB 26: Looks great!

FEB 25: Check your email re: that script.

FEB 24: Site is updated and posted

FEB 11: Great job on the Processing sketches! Still need Computation 2. I'll put together something for you about CSS.

Ellen Saunders ....MAR 22: Motion is very cinematic. I can see you doing storyboards for movies - you have a real flair for storytelling (or "narrative' if we are using more upscale jargon). Great job!

MAR 15: Great work - Looking forward to seeing where you go with your ideas.

FEB 25: Your game was really fun.

FEB 10: Nice - love the bird! - BUT missing the index page for computation 1 sketches. Processing link gives me a Not Found error.

Bradley Chong ....MAR 22: Great job on Motion. Make the car drive away at the end and integrate your forward/back navigation links into your design and it will be perfect. What happened to the images in your Behaviour project?

MAR 15: Great job on the Behaviour project!

FEB 25: Very strong, bold design and navigation. See if you can keep the relevant thumbnail image on each page (instead of the fingerprint)

FEB 24: Site is updated and posted

FEB 11: I love the story! Your Home link doesn't really match the rest of your very excellent design. Still need Computation 2.

Daniel So ....MAR 22: Motion - what can I say - I LOVE it!

MAR 15: Very nice job on the Behaviour assignment. Check the page title.

FEB 25: Fantastic job on Computation 2. Site design is very clever, too.

FEB 11: Close Your Eyes is brilliant! I just love it. Many good ideas here. Still need Computation 2.

Rebecca Inglis ....MAR 22: We missed you March 18! Are you coming back?

MAR 15: Got your Motion assignments - Can you title your pages?

MAR 03: Updated site posted - Thanks!

FEB 25: Good job!

FEB 24: Site is updated and posted

FEB 11: Your Computation 2 layout and choices are really, really nice! Great job! Still missing the Modularity image and rollover - Your code on inglis-rebecca_link3.html is referencing images in a folder called /modularity but I don't see that in your site folder.

Sarah Stoyanovich ....MAR 22: Motion is cute - I can't honestly see Diver as the "before" state and Sushi as the "after" state, since Oscar enters in the middle. Because of that, I didn't recognize the sushi until you told me what it was. Maybe you could provide more context on the final screen - something ironic, like Oscar's Sushi Palace in the background. Right now, the sushi plates are a bit abstract compared to the detail and literalness of the first 2 panels. Don't spend too much time on Oscars' legs - now is the time to focus on your site. It's coming along nicely.

MAR 15: Looking forward to your new design. Great job on the Behaviour assignment!

MAR 03: Take a look at your font styles and colours - I think that and the background image are causing most of the problems.

FEB 25: I found the links to your Computation 1 applets kind of by accident. Somehow they are hidden unless you roll the cursor over them. I'll take a look at your files this week.

FEB 24: Your .jar files are missing!

FEB 11: The page called assignment1.html has 2 sets of <head></head> <body></body> <style></style> and <script></script> tags. No html page should ever have more than one of each of those. The page called site.map.html references a file called site.structure.jpg but I cannot find that file in any of your folders. (I only see the .ai and .psd files) You must have all of your .jar files (created when you exported your Processing sketches) in the same folder as your computation1.1.html file in order for your applets to work. I can't find them. You may have to re-export the .pde files in each of the folders inside your Sources folder to recreate those .jars.

Aaron Wright ... MAR 22: Nice work on the Motion assignment. Thanks for helping me in class!

MAR 15: good choices for the Behaviour project!

MAR 03: Updated site posted - Thanks!

FEB 25: I'm curious now about Computation 2. Hope you can get it working soon.

FEB 24: Site is updated and looks great.

FEB 11: I really like the navigation. Splatter Brush is awesome!

Project Site Structure

The home page of your project site should be in the root folder and must be called index.html You can have other files with that name in sub-folders, but only ONE index.html file in the root folder. You can keep each assignment in a separate sub-folder or you can put all of your html files (and .jar files for applets) in the root folder and all of your images in one images folder. As long as your paths are correct, your site will work.

Please review the folder structure and file naming conventions to make sure your project site is organized properly.

Troubleshooting

As you have learned, the majority of problems with the functionality of your sites are caused by folder structures and file names. Your code is "looking" for your html files and their assets (images, applets) in specific locations. The links in your code must be identical to the names of the files or assets, including upper and lower case characters.

If your work is either not posted or isn't appearing the way you intended, it could be because any of the following issues:

You didn't structure your files and folders properly

You didn't name your files correctly - file names should not include spaces or special characters like ( ) # &

You didn't submit the two 100x100 pixel preview images

The file names in your images folder do not match the ones in the image tag in your HTML page.

Here is an example of an image tag: <img src="image/square1.jpg" />

Some other required element is missing

Check your code

In html, each folder is represented by /

Always look in the code view of Dreamweaver to make sure your paths, folder names and file names are correct.

Only sites using the correct folder structure and file naming convention are considered submitted
